WELCOME FROM OUR NEIGHBORHOOD HOA

The North Peak Property Owner’s Association (NPPOA) is a residential group, representing the neighborhood on the west side of North Peak. We created this resource portal to provide information, community news and important updates. Our association meets annually on the first weekend of October and we welcome you to come visit and mingle with your North Peak neighbors. We cover a lot of important information and are always looking for volunteers to join our board. We appreciate your help in ensuring out little slice of heaven remains a paradise for many generations to come.

NORTH PEAK OVERVIEW

North Peak is located at the southwest corner of Julian at about 5,500ft elevation. It is one of highest peaks in the region and at a significantly higher altitude than the rest of Julian. It can get significantly colder and we get more moisture due to the higher micro-climates. Temperatures can drop down in the 20’s during winter and we also get more snow than the rest of Julian.

To the south of North Peak is Stonewall Peak and Lake Cuyamaca. Stonewall Peak is a popular hiking trail and part of the larger Rancho Cuyamaca State Park. Cuyamaca Lake is managed by County Parks and Recreation and has a restaurant/pub, as well as boating, fishing and hunting activities.

To the West is Middle Peak and to the East starts the Anza-Borrego State Park. To the south is the Cleveland National Forest – one of the biggest forests in the USA, comprising over 200,000 acres.

We are surrounded by wildlife, bio-diversity and natural beauty on all sides! How lucky are we to call this place home?

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

There are approximately 50 properties on our side of the mountain that are accessed through North Peak RD via Engineer RD. There is a gate at the entrance to North Peak RD, which can only be accessed with a private code. This code is only provided to residents and is changed periodically. We have a handful of residents living here full time and a few others only living here part-time. We have multiple vacation rental properties that have popped up in recent years, which seem to be growing in popularity.

We take a lot of pride in being a safe, private, independent and self sustaining community – among the best in Julian. We live in a very unique mountain habitat, surrounded by protected state, federal and county parks. We share this precious space with all manner of flora and fauna, wildlife and much bio-diversity. We have a great obligation to protect this unique area and to be good stewards of the land. We ask that you please familiarize yourself with the info on this page and do your part to help.

Good Water Management Practices

The Cuyamaca Forest Mutual Water Co. operates and manages our privately owned water distribution center. They are a volunteer run organization made up of our neighbors and we all share the responsibility of doing our part. Read More…

Fire Mitigation and Defensible Space

The threat of fire is one of the greatest issues we face in the backcountry. Much of this area burned in the 2003 Cedar Fire, including many of the homes in this very neighborhood. It’s a constant reminder of the need for readiness and taking pro-active steps to protect your home. Here are things you need to know about the threat of fires and how you can protect your home.

Keep Our Mountain Clean

Ramona Disposal is responsible for waste management services on our side of the mountain. They pick up every Friday morning and on Saturdays, after major holidays. Your bin must be on the side of the road for pick up and all trash must be inside of bags (no loose items).

We ask that you please keep your property clean and debris free, as well as our roads and shared spaces.

Evasive Species

We have our fair share of evasive species on the mountain including; Scotch Broom, Golden Spotted Oak Borer and Pine Beetle. Please be conscious of any plants or invasive species you may unwittingly introduce. Read More…
